about counselling

As a counsellor I have worked with people experiencing extreme distress in their lives and people who have specific problem issues such as low self esteem and relationship issues. In my view, counselling works best as an alliance between counsellor and client, to which both bring their experience and expertise.

In counselling we create together a safe confidential space where your issues can be explored with dignity and respect. People often find it useful to talk to a counsellor who is not connected to their life in any other way and can provide a non-judgemental and calm environment in which you can explore concerns.

Research* shows that the relationship between counsellor and client and client motivation are the most significant factors as to whether counselling is successful, and that counselling achieves a high degree of success.

The agenda for the counselling sessions is set by you, and my aim is not to offer advice but to work with you to access your deepest resources and clarify the issues involved.
